CrossFit is different animal than traditional fitness programs and so is our approach with nutrition. We like to think our ancestors had it right and that breads, grains or beans should not be the mainstay of a person’s diet. Have you fallen out of your chair yet? I’m sure you are wondering what to eat then, right? It’s easy: Eat meats, veggies, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and NO sugar!
To be honest, the idea was difficult for me to grasp at first. I am a foodie. I love food and I love wine and I love to cook. The thought of giving up pasta or cheese forever made me want to cry. But it’s all about balance for me. I follow the 80/20 rule…for me it’s about doing enough to make sure I my body composition is about where I want (hey, I’m a girl, we all wish we could be skinnier), my performance is decent in the gym and that I’m healthy. I follow a Primal lifestyle the majority of the time, but I still enjoy wine and occasionally indulge in cheese and {gasp} even pasta or pizza! My goal is to make healthy, Primal food that still appeals to the foodie in me!
Fitness and nutrition have long been a big part of my life and I feel very fortunate to finally be able to help people with their own journey in the world of CrossFit. My goal is to help people learn to do things for themselves, to give you the tools, knowledge and information to do it on your own. However, I know that some people need a little more hand holding along the way, if that is you, check out our Nutrition Services.
I welcome your feedback and recipes!
Cheers!
Bridget
